For years now SHRec (Southern Hills Community Recreation Initiative) has been working toward the goal of a recreation facility in the Hot Springs, SD area. Many spaces and properties around town have been explored. SHRec is ecstatic to have Jason Goetsch (Eidos Architects) and Instructor Todd Anderson, WDT (Western Dakota Tech) on our team. Over the years, Mr. Goetsch has helped us develop plans and provided us with concept drawings for possible future additions to existing buildings as well as cost estimates per square foot for a possible standalone facility.

The Mr. Anderson & his WDT student created cad drawings and a virtual reality program for an addition onto the Mueller Civic Center. This included a gym attached to the current Mueller Center gym, a lap pool, elevated walking track, conference rooms, and offices. WDT was in Hot Springs May 2019 for an extremely successful presentation to the public on two semesters of hard work.

This semester 2019 another WDT student has accepted the challenge to work on a standalone facility. This facility will encompass a lap pool, plus a larger gym, larger walking track, and more amenities. Amenities will include a kitchen, community center/conference room, more storage areas, maintenance area, and offices.
